Plantin’, Cookin’, and Jammin!

Tomorrow (Saturday, June 15th) is the big Summer Celebration Kick-off! Join us for some Plantin’, Cookin’, and Jammin! The market opens at 8 am. At 9 a.m, Burton from J&B Farms will be demonstrating how to build container gardens. From 10-12 she will be there to assist customers with container building. We invite all to come put together a container of herbs for culinary purposes and aesthetics! You can bring your own container or purchase one at the market. A great Father’s Day gift idea: come put together a combo of delicious herbs for grilling, perfect for placing next to Dad’s grill!
Also from 10-12, Carl Cantaluppi will provide musical entertainment to go alongside the cooking demo! Chef Derek St. Romain, the Executive Chef at Duke Diet and Fitness Center and also the Regional Coordinator with Backyard Bowpro, will chef it up at market from 10-12. He will be using a new smoker to smoke venison as well as cooking with local foods from the market.

What to expect at the market this Saturday:

Produce: Tomatoes, Cabbage, Potatoes, Squash, Garlic, Eggs, Red and green Kale, Lettuce, Swiss Chard, Leeks, Onions, Beets.
Baked Goods: Baguettes, Buttery Crescent Rolls, Blueberry Muffins, Cinnamon Rolls, Strawberry Cupcakes, PB & J Cupcakes, and Banana Bread
Other items for sale: Flowers, Certified Organic Bedding Plants and Herbs, Jewelry, Macrame
